Technical Program 2019

  • Oi Americas 2019 Technical Program

As part of the three-day conference program, Oi Americas will run a series of technical tracks exploring the latest developments in ocean science and technology and their application in support of safe and sustainable use of the ocean and protection of the marine environment. Take a look at the list of topics below.

     Attend Conference

    Observation and Sensing

This conference track will explore the latest developments in measurement techniques and instrumentation for monitoring of ocean and atmospheric physics, chemistry, biology, and genomics as well as associated advances in analytical techniques and modelling.

    Hydrography, Geophysics and Geotechnics
This conference track will focus on offshore site investigation including data collection, processing and analysis techniques used in mapping and pre-engineering studies of the offshore environment to understand the physical nature of the seabed and sub-seabed. Topics will include the description of new tools and techniques as well as case studies across the oil and gas, renewables, seafloor mining, telecommunications and marine and coastal construction industries.

    Unmanned Vehicles, Vessels and Robotics
This conference track will focus on innovative developments and applications in marine autonomous systems, including Robotics, AUVs, ROVs and ASVs. Of particular interest are contributions that address: multi-vehicle or collaborative elements; the current limitations of autonomy; rapid response capabilities; and over the horizon (beyond the line of sight) operations, new sensing and imaging technologies that can be hosted on these platforms, and the role of AI in optimizing autonomy.

    Marine Pollution and Environmental Stressors
This conference track will focus on tools and techniques to address oil and other chemical spills and other forms of marine pollution including plastics and other debris. It will include consideration of understanding and mitigating large scale environmental changes associated with climate change, such as ocean acidification.

    Navigation and Positioning
This conference track will look at the latest techniques and technologies for navigation and positioning on and below the sea surface.

    Ocean ICT
This conference track will consider the latest developments of ocean data communications, the application of big data analytics, machine learning and advanced visualisation techniques.
