Navigation and Positioning

Navigation and Positioning

25 Feb 2019, 14:30 - 16:00

Room 32AB

Improvements in subsea imaging coupled with advanced computational capabilities have allowed subsea navigation without traditional systems, this technique is known as Simultaneous Location and Mapping (SLAM) and is covered in the first three presentations, including the adaptation of SLAM in marine autonomous vehicles.  The final paper presents demonstration of the use of such vehicles in the determination of the wellhead position, leading to cost reductions as a result of removing the requirement for a manned survey vessel.
